The Social Construction of Gender

After reading and listening to the podcast about gender socialization I have come to realize that this is marked by either social gender or biological sex. When you're first born you are exposed to the costumed ways that little boys and little girls are raised by dressing them in blue and pink and then getting them toys such as dolls for the girls and then race cars for little boys. Almost everywhere you go or anything you will see on TV will have advertisements for the way boys are supposed to act and look like and same with girls.

Global Inequality

Why should we care about global inequality?

Everyone should care about global inequality because it does affect our everyday life more then most people realize, including myself. It is important to understand what is going on in other countries outside of the U.S. because all countries are connected in a way and everything that happens outside of the U.S. for the most part has an effect on our country good and bad it is all associated with each other. If another country is doing well or poorly with one of their products that the U.S. buys from them then we will either benefit or struggle from that as well.

Social Class

How much do you think social class matters in the U.S. today?

After watching the film Social Class in America and reading this weeks chapter, I have come to believe that social class matters way to much in society today. It seems to me that people care way too much about what other people think of them. People go out and spend lots of money on nice cars and clothes and go to expensive restaurants, for what? To impress others so they can seem better then the rest. Everything you wear and do gives off an impression to others and what social class you are in. I think that social class does matter but only to a certain extent.
